Hypocrisy That Just Pisses You Off

The following video segment involves Chris Hayes revealing a “glaring bit of hypocrisy” on the part of Paul Ryan related to the issue of stimulus spending and the economy. Needless to say, Ryan had a different opinion of the effectiveness of stimulus spending under George Bush than he did under Barack Obama.

You have to see this segment in order to believe it. The pro-stimulus Paul Ryan of 2002 sounds like the pro-stimulus Barack Obama of 2009. What a pile of fetid feces has the GOP become:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

By the way, in the discussion that follows the above clip, Michael Grunwald, author of The New New Deal, which “reveals the vivid story behind President Obama’s $800 billion stimulus bill,” said this about the effectiveness of that bill:

People forget that in the fourth quarter of 2008, GDP fell at a 9% annual rate. That’s a depression. At that rate we would have lost an entire Canadian economy in 2009. In January of 2009 we lost 800,000 jobs. Then we pass the stimulus. The next quarter had the biggest improvement in jobs in 30 years.

  1. RDG,

I’m beginning to wonder if Ryan went through the same type of VP vetting process that unleashed Alaska’s “Mama Grizzly” on an unsuspecting public. At least Donald Trump has his own airplane.

Compounding Ryan’s storied career as a hypocritical pusher of Objectivism’s adolescent hooey is his equally disturbing interest in Big Government’s oversight of female reproduction. Although the Romney campaign has been quick to distance itself from Todd Akin’s crazy opinions regarding “legitimate” and “illegitimate” rape, Ryan’s co-sponsorship with Aiken of the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act” will be a difficult sell to those equipped with the most basic levels of cognition.

    • Thanks for that additional insight on Duane’s excellent post, John. The Ryan clip would make a devastating campaign attack ad for voters who have an inkling about economics. I hope there are some.

Just when I thought the abortion debate couldn’t get any nuttier, it did. I wonder just what mechanism Aiken had in mind that might enable a woman’s body to reject that foreign sperm? Perhaps it was the Holy Spirit being diverted from watching sparrows fall to the higher priority of forfending rapists.

Reminds me of Pat Robertson praying away hurricanes, some of which we could use to fight the drought. I wish Pat would get with the program there.

  2. Jim,

I believe the medieval branch of Tea Bag Christianity calls Akin’s divine uterus protection blessing “God’s Little Miracle.” Although secular science isn’t able to study this specific organic compound that kicks in during sexual assault, Akin and fellow spooks believe a secretion sharing a physical resemblance to liquefied lip balm acts as a holy spermicidal barrier, keeping good girls from bearing yet another anchor baby.

Strangely enough, “God’s Little Miracle” performs the same function as an evil doctor or prescription Levonorgestrel. Yet another example of the Lord moving in mysterious ways.
