House GOP: Women Need Not Apply

Here is how women voted in the last two presidential elections:

The following is a graphic showing next year’s Republican committee chairmen in the House, kindly put up by St. Rachel Maddow on her Tuesday night show. This gem goes to show how much Republicans learned from the election:

Say no more, say no more?

Rachel has a vested interest in the female vote and apparently so does the electorate. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of us “dudes” who’ve been married for a couple of decades or so.

Since the middle 60s the democrats have done all that they can to destroy the family and separate women first from their human nature then from men and their husbands and children. 40% of live births of black children in 2010 in New York state were to single women. The destruction is most visible on the margins and there is a great social cost to be paid for the creation of this new constituency.

My first instinct was to ask you if you were nuts, but in the end I settled for ignorant. There are several causes for the rise in black children being born out of wedlock, and the one that stands out the most is poverty. Both parties have made mistakes in dealing with poverty but Democrats at least make an effort to resolve it. Republicans on the other hand ignore the issue and place unqualified and often absurd blame on the wrong people for no other purpose than to ignite indignation among their unquestioning and ignorant constituents.

The right didn’t lose because of votes levied against them by unwed mothers and their children, they lost because of their prejudices of non-whites, archaic beliefs in gender roles, policies of socioeconomic exclusion, along with plutocratic policies that have all but resulted in the dissolution of the middle class. They lost because our young are being forced into a modern indentured servitude to obtain an education through high interest student loans of which many will never be able to repay because of off shoring jobs. They lost because they can’t see what China and other growing economies see, that government has to play a role in education and research if they are compete. In short the republicans lost because there is no future for a party mired in the ignorance of the past.

    • Rae,

I will take seriously your charge here, since it is a fairly common one coming from conservatives, but before I get into any kind of discussion on the issue with you, you should first clear up the meaning of this sentence for me:

Since the middle 60s the democrats have done all that they can to destroy the family and separate women first from their human nature then from men and their husbands and children.

Now, it’s one thing to claim that Democratic policies have been harmful in this way or that, but it is another thing altogether to claim that the harm was intentional. In other words, if you are claiming, and persist in claiming, that Democrats mean to “destroy the family,” then we don’t really have anything to discuss, do we?

I mean, if you think that I, as a Democrat, am intentionally doing harm when I claim to be doing good, we won’t get very far. So please explain, if you can, how you meant your statement.

So it’s the Democratic party at fault when spouses cheat and break up families, when parents gamble away the mortgage payment leading to homelessness, when kids spend hours on video games instead of homework, when drug addiction leads to crime, when parents use the TV as a babysitter, when dinner is eaten on the run instead of a daily family ritual at a table with conversation among family members? These scenarios have caused the break-up of the family unit, not the Democratic party.

    • Of course Democrats did all those things, Patricia. It’s what we do! We hate families; we hate kids; we hate wealth; we hate, hate, hate. It’s who we are. It’s why the Democratic Party was created. It’s just taken too long to get all that destruction done, and now, thanks to the Kenyan socialist in the White’s House, we can finish the job!

“there is a great social cost to be paid for the creation of this new constituency.”

    Rae,
Help me understand. Is the new constituency women in general? (In which case, way to go Democrats! We created an entire sex in the human race!) Or is the new constituency women who, God forbid, think differently than men? (In which case, way to go Democrats! We created an entire sex in the human race AND allowed them to be free thinkers)
